After a family emergency with a different agency/nanny, San Francisco Chinese Postpartum Confinement was very helpful to find us a nanny with short notice. We have been very lucky to work with Chiu. Chiu so loving and patient with our baby for the last 2 months, and we can tell she truly loves being with him. The baby also loves her, smiling and cooing with her as much as he does with mom! She's gotten him to sleep up to 6 hours per night already, and even when she herself must be tired, she is always so gentle and calming to the baby, and also so playful and friendly to our other children. She's seamlessly fit into our family rhythm. She even came on a trip with us and took care of the baby in a new location without any problems. Chiu has occasionally prepared food for us and is a wonderful cook. She's very efficient, dependable, and hardworking. Also, no one in our family speaks Mandarin so we exclusively communicated via Google Translate. Because Chiu is an experienced caregiver and takes initiative, communication actually worked quite well. For example, she needed to be shown to do things just once and then we could rely on her to make good decisions and be independent subsequently with food, laundry, bathing, etc. She's also a very warm person, so we felt like we got to know her even if we couldn't talk perfectly to one another. Don't let language be the barrier! If we could, we'd ask for Chiu to stay with us even longer. We highly recommend her!
